About Me

I’m Brooke.  Dance lover (so much so that I teach it).  Mid Century design enthusiast.  Vintage collector.  Home renovation tackler.  I can also craft a mean cocktail.

Kickin’ back and  livin’ the dream with The Boy and Miss Bettie Lu Sparkles (a.k.a “The Lu,” our diva Border Collie) in our happy little home in Miller Beach.

    Hi Brooke,

I am just so thrilled to see a page dedicated to the wonderful mid-century homes here in MB. I’m at 8400 Forest.

It would be fun to meet and chat one of these days.

Hi Brooke! I was looking at mid-century modern sites for northwest Indiana and stumbled on your awesome blog. My husband and I live in Schererville and love all things mid-century as well. Funny thing though…as I read your recent post, I realized that we bought the exact sofa that you featured in your post. We must have bought it right after your husband photographed it! Anyway – I took a photo and I can send it to you in its new home. Not sure how to send ti via your blog :-).

    Hello Brooke,
I recently bought a house built in 1952 with some unusual features. These include a radiant heating system (hot water through pipes in the floors, bathroom wall and ceilings), original kitchen cabinets (maple?), screened wooden louvres built into the walls of the living room for ventilation and support posts for the front porch railings that were carefully, but not evenly, spaced. It’s at 930 Warrick, just south of Oak, at the dead end of Maple. You’re welcome to tour it anytime. Email me or drop by and ask Garry or Laura (carpenter and painter) for a tour.

Neat! I would love to come and check it out. It’s sounds interesting–and great that it still has some original features.
